The CG-1000 harness is custom made so that you can have the harness of your dreams, whatever that dream may be. Established in the early eighties, our company has been focused on making hang glider harnesses for pilots who love to fly as much as we do. Since the CG-1000 is tailor made for the pilot’s body, it is the most comfortable harness you could buy. The more comfortable the harness, the longer you can stay in the air. Our harnesses are easy to fly because they put the pilot in an upright position for launching and landing, and with the simple push of the feet the pilot can go prone for a comfortable aerodynamic flight. Finally, the CG-1000 will last for years since we only use the safest, most durable materials we can find.

  1. Fantastic!!!! I have been hoping that someone would start making this style harness again, a style way ahead of it’s time and much more cost effective than todays carbon fiber back plate harnesses. I have spent many hours in CG 1000′s and Raymond Equallizer’s which as you must know was a copy of your CG with a few modifications. I sell many harnesses every year to students and have not been happey with the Z5, High Energy style harnesses. Of all the used harness I use to transition students from the upright training position to prone the Equalizer and CG harnesses are everyones favorites. Please let me know Price and availability. I would love to one of your costomers.

  2. I started flying in ’97 with a knee hanger. Yea, it was uncomfortable but at the time all I could afford. In ’99 I painted a sign for a friend in trade for a used CG1000. It had some wear and some dirt and grass stains, but my EGO is one that would allow me to not care what others thought. And some had plenty to say about this harness that looked different than all the others at the time. Then they all started having pointy boots and slides with single hangstrapes. I love my CG1000 and still fly it! It’s old and really showing it’s age, but I was in it yesterday and it still serves me well!!! Would be very cool to have a new one made and keep myself in what i know I like. Would like to have an idea of price as i’m still an artist (not always starving) and live a kind of simple lifestyle. Hope to hear from you and thanks for bringin’ ‘em back!

  3. I owned one of the first CG 1000 harnesses ever produced and that was many, many years ago. This harness endured hundreds of safe comfortable hours in the sky with my longest time being 8.5 hours and it was like laying in a hammack. Besides a few dirt spots, my own fault, it looks like the day I bought it! Plus the new zipper entry was and is the best feature ever. I never had to have ANYTHING fall apart or any repairs done to it. I have heard of his internal support system preventing many possible back injuries in the event of an accidents.
I would buy a new one but there is no need because these can last an easy 20 plus years of HARD flying! Great to see them back. George Adams

  4. Hello.
I bought my CG 1000 in 1991 and is still flying it. It`s getting a little weaker in the colors, but I really don`t like my plans of put it on the ground. Is Jay in the company still? In the 90´s I delivered 12 to 15 harnesses to Norwegian pilots. Is the new harness as good and streamlined as the old one?

  5. Glad you’re still flying it. Jay is my father so I do speak with him frequently. As far as the business is concerned he is no longer involved in any way with the manufacturing of any harness or anything else sold by Fly Center of Gravity. The harnesses I make uses the same design as the ones he made. The only changes that have been made are to try and add some modern features. It is a great harness and I would love to make you one when you decide to retire your old one.

  6. I just bought a used CG 1000 and would like to get a manual for it. Is that possible?

The previous owner has already shortened the pitch control cord and he is smaller and shorter then I am.

Nice to have this company back in action!

  7. I bought my first CG 1000 in the late 80′s flew with it until I left the sport in 1999..It still had tons of life in it so I sold it to a friend..I’ve started flying again and wanted to see if they were still around and sure enough I found you..Cant say enough about your harnesses..absolutely love them!! Oredering a new glider soon and a new CG 1000 harness ..recommending them to all my friends..Rich Hiegel Hey say hello to your Dad for me !!

  8. Dear Jordan Gianforte,

Thank you for the great job you did on my harness. It fits great and it looks awesome.

I was aware that the CG1000 was sleeker looking and had fewer hang lines than my old High Energy Tracer harness, but I was surprised what a difference it made in flight. The first time I flew the CG1000, I heard a “new” noise from my wing that caught my attention. I listened carefully to determine if there was some kind of problem. I finally figured out that the noise I heard was wind flowing over my sail. I had never heard this sound before. Evidently, my old harness with multiple support lines on my back made so much wind noise behind my head that it had drowned out the sound of the wind on the wing! Hearing the wind on the wing enhances my enjoyment of flying. I love it!

I wish you and your business success and you have my permission to use this note as a testimonial on your website, if you would like to.

  9. I have had two CG-1000s and they are very comfortable. I had two because Floyd Cadwell gave me his and I like the color better than my original one. I just recently flew a six hour and twelve minute flight at Wallaby Ranch and the CG-1000 was very comfortable. Love it !

  10. Are you still in bussines?
I’m very interested in your harness, actually I own a Z5 but don’t like how it fit.

Please send me pictures of the options, I live in Colombia Southamerica, I could pick up the harness in Miami

    Thanks for your time,

    Oscar G
